The 2018 Cleveland Triathlon is set for July 22nd, 2018.  We're excited for our 32nd year in Cleveland as this popular event continues to grow in popularity each year!  We'll have more details about the 2018 event over the next couple of months, but opening day of registration starts Wednesday November 15, 2017.  Make sure to sign up early and take advantage of early bird pricing discounts!


This year we are excited to open a new race category the MegaSprint (1/2 mile swim, 24 mile bike, 5K run).  We are also pleased to announce our new finish line area at Voinivich Park, more details to come soon.  We hope to see you all in Cleveland in July!


The Cleveland Triathlon has been a staple in the sport of triathlon for more than 3 decades, and has been the host of several historical championship events over the years including:

• The First Age Group National Championship (1992)

• Six total USA Triathlon National Championships 

• The ITU World Championship (held on the Cleveland Triathlon course)

In 2018 it's your chance to take part in THE destination triathlon event in the City of Cleveland, and join us in celebrating the long history of this popular event with triathletes from around the country and beyond.

SwimSteam Start

Competitors in 2017 will use the SwimStream start process, which Pacific Sports launched in September 2013 to great acclaim by the competitors.

Competition Divisions

*If you pick something besides age group, this is the division you will compete in race day.

- Age Group:

  • Super Sprint, Sprint & Olympic Distances: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20- 24, 25- 29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50- 54, 55- 59, 60-64, 65- 69, 70- 74, 75- 79, 80+
  • Youth Course Only*: 7-10, 11-14

*Youth Course is only for participants 7-14 years old. They will only be able to participate in these two divisions.

- Elite

- Clydesdale (Men 200+ lbs)

- Athena (Female 145+ lbs)

- Relays: Male, Female, or Co-Ed

A relay team is two or three participants. Each participant completes one or two segments of the race, and the timing chip is transferred from one relay participant to the next in the transition area. Relay Teams must either all come to the expo together to pick up their packets and sign the waiver or one team member may come with 3 signed waivers to pick up for the team. You will not be able to pick up individual pieces of your packet if you come separately.
